The Commission House is building a curated collection of artists across Australia who create original, hand-painted artworks designed specifically for interiors. This is not an open platform or a general submission space. It is a selective, design-led collection focused on producing refined, large-scale commissioned works that sit naturally within professionally styled homes. We are currently opening a limited intake and will be selecting only twenty artists across Australia to be part of this first stage.

We are looking for artists whose work already feels aligned with interior spaces rather than existing as standalone or experimental pieces. The work needs to feel resolved, intentional, and considered, with a clear sense of composition and restraint. This includes artists working in neutral or tonal abstracts, modern portraiture with an editorial or minimal feel, and textured or layered pieces that bring depth without overwhelming a space. The work should feel like it belongs in a home that has been thoughtfully designed, not something that needs to compete for attention.

The way you work is just as important as what you create. The Commission House operates on a structured model that allows commissioned artworks to be produced consistently without losing their originality. Each artist works within one or two clearly defined styles that can be repeated and adapted for individual clients. All works are created in a small number of fixed sizes that are chosen specifically for interior use, allowing designers and clients to make decisions with clarity. This is not open-ended custom work or a back-and-forth process. It is a considered system where the client selects a style, provides their reference, and the artist interprets that within their established approach.

This model suits artists who are able to maintain a high level of consistency across multiple pieces while still creating work that feels original each time. It is important that your work translates well at scale and that you understand how an artwork sits within a room, not just on its own. Artists who work well within parameters and are comfortable focusing purely on the creation side tend to do best in this environment, as the brand and client acquisition are handled externally.

The Commission House is not a marketplace or a space for uploading unlimited work. It is not built for volume, and it is not positioned around low-cost art. Every artist included is selected for a specific reason, and the collection as a whole is designed to feel cohesive and elevated. The intention is to create a body of work that interior designers and design-focused clients can rely on, without needing to search through endless options.

Artists who are selected will be part of a curated national collection and will receive access to a client base that is already aligned with this style of work. The structure removes the need to market or constantly source new clients, allowing artists to focus on producing their work within a clear and consistent system. Each piece is created as an original, and the emphasis is on quality over volume.

To apply, artists are asked to submit their current work along with a clear indication of one or two styles they can confidently reproduce over time. It is important to show not just your best work, but work that reflects how you would operate within a commissioned format. We are looking for artists who already have a strong sense of their own direction and are ready to translate that into a structured offering.

The Commission House is intentionally limited. It is not designed to include everyone, and the selection process reflects that. The focus is on building a collection of artists whose work genuinely belongs in designed spaces and can hold its own within a refined interior.
